Personal Financial Strategies to Consider Under New Tax Law

MARCH 21st

7:30 AM – 8:30 AM

13616 California Street, Suite 300 | Omaha, NE 68154

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which was signed in late December, will bring about the biggest sweeping changes to the US tax code since 1986. The new tax code will offer a majority of Americans some tax relief, but besides overall lower income tax rates and lower tax rates for corporations there are other financial planning items to consider as a result of the new tax changes. This seminar, led by Nick Hall and Joe Hefflinger of Lutz Financial, will highlight the changes that will take effect in 2018 with the new tax legislation and address some financial planning strategies for individuals and their families to consider given these changes.

What you can expect to take away from this presentation:

  • An understanding of the new tax legislation and how it will affect individuals and families.
  • Certain strategies for individuals to consider with respect to income tax, education, estate, charitable, and investment planning and more.
  • The impact and savings of implementing some of these strategies in your comprehensive financial plan.

Who should attend? High-net worth professionals, retired individuals, and/or business owners who are seeking ways to save additional money around new tax legislation enacted by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

Retirement Income & Distribution Planning

NOVEMBER 14th

7:30 AM – 8:30 AM

13616 California Street, Suite 300 | Omaha, NE 68154

Most investment and financial advice has traditionally been focused on the accumulation phase (growing assets before retirement).  But with the elimination of traditional pension plans and increased life expectancies, retirees are now finding that the distribution phase (spending down assets in retirement) is far more complex and requires a skill-set that neither they nor their financial advisor may possess.  This seminar, led by Joe Hefflinger and Nick Hall of Lutz Financial, will highlight the key components of a successful retirement income and distribution plan as well as specific strategies to consider.

What you can expect to take away from this presentation:

  • What goes into a comprehensive retirement cash flow analysis and why it is so critical to ensure you don’t outlive your assets
  • How to incorporate healthcare costs, long-term care expenses, required minimum distributions (RMDs), roth conversions and social security claiming strategies into your plan
  • An understanding of how your annual spending needs impact how to best allocate your investment assets between equities and fixed income
  • What assets to pull from and when to meet your retirement needs

Who should attend? Current retirees or those anticipating retirement in the next 10 years and who are uncertain about how to strategically deploy their assets in retirement to best meet their needs.

Factor Investing

JUNE 13th

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

13616 California Street, Suite 300 | Omaha, NE 68154

How many times have you seen headlines about a “Leading Fund Family”, “This Mutual fund received a 5-Star rating from Morningstar”, “The Top 5 Hot Stocks of 2018”, or some other fancy title that suggests investing prowess?  The so-called experts from Wall Street make a lot of predictions and promises that often fail to ever materialize or deliver.  At Lutz Financial, we believe in an investment strategy that is predicated on empirical academic research and the belief that markets are efficient rather than the speculation and arbitrage that the media and Wall Street try to sell you. This seminar, led by Jim Boulay and Nick Hall of Lutz Financial, will introduce factor investing and show individuals how to use relative risk factors to stack the deck in your favor by minimizing taxes and fees to keep more of your investment returns in your pocket.

What you can expect to take away from this presentation:

  • A comparison of what Wall Street and Active Fund Managers promise versus what they actually deliver.
  • An introduction to Factor Investing and the relative risk factors you can employ to stack the deck in your favor.
  • The impact taxes and fees have on your portfolio over time and strategies to minimize both.

Who should attend? High-net worth professionals, retired individuals, and/or business owners who are looking for a better way to invest their “nest egg” or diversify risk away from their business to help better meet financial goals.

Estate & Contingency Planning for Business Owners

AUGUST 8th

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

13616 California Street, Suite 300 | Omaha, NE 68154

For business owners, their company ownership often makes up a large portion of their overall personal balance sheet.  This dynamic creates unique planning issues specific to business owners that need to be addressed to protect their most valuable asset.  However, business owners are often so busy working on day-to-day operations that this planning doesn’t get the attention it deserves.  This seminar, led by Justin Vossen and Joe Hefflinger of Lutz Financial, will highlight the key estate and contingency planning issues that all business owners need to address as well as specific strategies to consider.

What you can expect to take away from this presentation:

  • An understanding of the essential estate planning areas that need to be addressed
  • The five D’s of business owner contingency planning (death, disability, divorce, disagreement and distress) and how to address them
  • How to properly incorporate your business ownership into your overall personal financial planning.

Who should attend? Business owners who want to protect their most valuable asset and preserve its value for their loved ones.  Spouses are also encouraged to attend.

Social Media Strategies for Recruiting

JULY 11th

7:30 AM – 8:30 AM

13616 California Street, Suite 300 | Omaha, NE 68154

Social media platforms can be used to advertise jobs, attract talent, and communicate with potential candidates. These platforms include Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and even Instagram. When compared to more traditional methods, this form of recruiting can reach broader audiences at a smaller cost. Promoting open positions on social media can extend the search to passive candidates while creating a buzz about what it would be like to work for the organization. This seminar, led by Josh Boesch and Alex Cassidy of Lutz Talent, will discuss effective strategies for successful recruiting through social media.

What you can expect to take away from this presentation:

  • Identify the advantages & disadvantages of using social media in your recruiting efforts
  • Setting a company standard
  • Which social media platforms are available and which offer a greater benefit

Who should attend? Anyone in a leadership capacity that believes hiring and retaining top talent is critical to their success, both individually and as an organization.
