These individuals will be an additional resource to you and assist your Lutz Representative in keeping the tax process moving by notifying you of information we still need to prepare your return.
You will receive several reminder updates throughout the process via email, phone, and/or text regarding upcoming deadlines, information needed as well as reminders to sign documents.
We have switched to a perpetual engagement letter system. You will no longer receive an annual engagement letter for services being provided to you unless warranted for a specific service. Last year’s letter covered the continuation of those services going forward. Addendum information may be sent annually to inform you of changes to our terms.
2021 Engagement Letter Addendum
If you have a business, and that business has employees working remotely in another locality, state and/ or foreign country, even on a temporary basis, your company may be viewed as having “nexus” in that location for tax purposes. If a business is deemed to have “nexus” for that location, the business may be obligated to pay additional franchise, income, sales or use tax; payroll or other business tax; and to comply with other tax or reporting requirements. Management is responsible for tracking the locations where company employees live and work and determining the tax compliance requirements in those respective locations. If you require our assistance to assess your potential tax exposure in locations other than your normal place of business where you may have employees residing, please let us know.
ONLINE CLIENT PORTAL [THREADWORKS]
ELECTRONIC INFORMATION REQUEST
For individual clients, we will continue to provide tax organizers (now information requests) electronically. You should receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org at the end of the year that links to a list of initial items needed to prepare your tax return. If you are unable to find this email, login to Threadworks > Inbox to locate the message.
This is a live page, so you can continually upload documents as they become available. Additionally, you are still able to provide documents via email to email@example.com, mail, or drop off. A version of the former paper organizer will also be available under Final Documents in ThreadWorks if needed to help complete the information request process.
ELECTRONIC PORTAL DELIVERY
We will continue to use the ThreadWorks portal to deliver your tax returns electronically. Due to AICPA Independence Hosting Rules, it is your responsibility to download and retain these items for your own records.
Should you need a paper version of the information request, you can download a copy by visiting your ThreadWorks Portal and going to Final Documents – Income Tax Portal. Tax forms that require your immediate attention will still be provided via paper (i.e., payment vouchers, paper-filed returns).
This will be used to electronically sign forms. If you haven’t opted in already, email firstname.lastname@example.org to request e-sign invites when documents need to be signed. Reminder, if filing jointly both spouses will need to sign
HOW DO I LOG IN TO MY THREADWORKS ACCOUNT?
You can log in to your account through our webpage https://app.thread.works and selecting the “Login” button located in the upper right corner.
You will also be directed to the login page by clicking on the links from any ThreadWorks notifications.
I FORGOT MY PASSWORD, OR I WAS LOCKED OUT.
I WAS SENT DOCUMENTS. HOW DO I RETRIEVE THEM?
Click on the “Download Files” link in the email notification. New users will be asked to create a ThreadWorks account while existing users will be asked to log in to retrieve the files.
I WAS SENT AN E-SIGN ONLINE REQUEST.
Click on the “Sign Documents Now” link in the email notification. New users will be asked to create a ThreadWorks account while existing users will be asked to log in to sign the requested document.
HOW DO I SEND FILES ONLINE?
Client users can send files to their professional by selecting “Inbox” on the home page, then selecting the “Send Files” button.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FINAL DOCUMENTS AND MY INBOX?
Final Documents are permanent files that have been shared by your professional.
The Inbox includes secure messages created through file exchange, eSign requests, and information requests.
