The “12 Days of Lutzmas” is a tradition designed to provide our employees with 12 different opportunities to give back and provide cheer during the holiday season. With combined efforts from our staff in Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island, in 2023, we were able to give back to individuals and organizations in the community through various activities, including:
- Collected over 1,700 nonperishable items for local food pantries in Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island.
- A gift drive in Omaha for the children at Completely Kids.
- Packaged/donated more than 3,000 meals for those in need with Mercy Meals in Grand Island.
- Random acts of kindness in Lincoln and Omaha, giving gift cards to help people purchase gas and groceries for the holidays.
- Collected 150 winter clothing items for children in need of cold weather gear at Lothrop Elementary School in Omaha.
- Served a meal for individuals and families at the Open Door Mission in Omaha.
- Adopted two families in need in Grand Island by sending gifts to spread holiday cheer.
- Wrapped 75 gift boxes in Omaha for young individuals transitioning out of foster care with Project Everlast.
- Assisted community members in shopping for shelf-stable and perishable food items at the Heart Ministry Center in Omaha.
- Helped with various projects, such as cleaning and organizing, for Lincoln Lighthouse.
- Appreciation gifts for those who help maintain and clean our facilities at all locations.
- An “ugly sweater” competition that raised over $2,500 for the Jon Guinn Scholarship offered for UNO accounting students.
We acknowledge the significant needs within our local communities, especially during the holiday season. The dedicated members of our Lutz Gives Back committee work hard to plan the activities we participate in each winter because we understand that it's more than just giving back; it's about creating a lasting positive impact.
