Lutz Announces 2026 Shareholder & Director Promotions

Lutz, a Nebraska-based business solutions firm, is proud to announce the promotion of 10 team members to shareholder and director roles.

SHAREHOLDER

Katie Byrd, CPA, has been promoted to Audit Shareholder. Since joining Lutz as an intern in 2013, Katie has grown into a trusted advisor known for her technical expertise, collaborative leadership, and commitment to helping clients navigate complex accounting and assurance matters. She leads the firm's nonprofit practice, contributes to audit department operations, and plays an active role in developing the next generation of audit professionals. Katie's dedication to building lasting client relationships, investing in her team, and strengthening the communities Lutz serves has made her an invaluable leader within the firm.

Jeff Paesl, CPA, has been promoted to Audit Shareholder. Since joining Lutz in 2011, Jeff has helped grow the firm’s sanitary improvement district practice into one of its most specialized niche areas. His ability to make sense of complex issues, see the full picture, and build strong relationships with developers, fiscal agents, attorneys, and clients has made him a trusted resource within the SID community. In addition to his technical expertise, Jeff brings a practical, steady approach to client service and has played an important role in strengthening the firm’s audit practice.

Adam Pfeiffer, CPA, has been promoted to Tax Shareholder. With more than 15 years of experience in tax and accounting, Adam specializes in tax planning, consulting, compliance, and complex merger and acquisition matters. His ability to work through complex technical issues has made him a trusted resource across the firm, and he is frequently called upon when clients or team members face challenging tax situations. In addition to serving clients, Adam plays a key role in developing the firm's tax professionals through internal education and mentoring.

DIRECTOR

Tom Docter, CPA, has been promoted to Tax Director. Tom provides tax planning, consulting, and return review services for business owners, bringing a practical perspective to every client relationship. His thoughtful approach and commitment to helping clients make informed financial decisions have earned him the trust of clients and colleagues alike.

Tom Hodgson, CFP®, has been promoted to Investment Advisor in the Financial division. He partners with clients on retirement, investment, tax, and estate planning, helping them make informed financial decisions. Known for his relationship-focused approach, he has built lasting client partnerships rooted in trust and personalized guidance.

Tyler Hohenstein, CPA, has been promoted to Tax Director. Tyler specializes in tax consulting and planning, particularly for clients in the agricultural industry, while also playing an active role in mentoring staff and leading the Grand Island intern program. His thoughtful, grounded approach reflects his commitment to helping clients solve challenges, grow their businesses, and plan for what comes next.

Brad Newton, CPA, has been promoted to Operations Director. Brad helps lead product management and firm operations across Lutz, including the vision and development of Locator, the firm's proprietary relationship management platform. Over the years, he has played a key role in building tools and processes that help teams collaborate more effectively and better serve clients. His curiosity, practical mindset, and commitment to improving how work gets done have made a lasting impact across the organization.

Zach Weis, CPA, has been promoted to Tax Director. Zach works with clients on tax planning, consulting, and compliance across a variety of industries, including construction, real estate, and franchised businesses. Since starting with Lutz as an intern, he has built strong client partnerships by staying current on tax law and helping business owners make informed decisions.

Austin Wells, CFP®, has been promoted to Retirement Plan Consultant & Investment Advisor in the Financial division. Austin works closely with businesses and individuals on retirement plans, financial planning, and investment management strategies. His work connects plan design, employee education, and long-term financial well-being, helping business owners and employees prepare for the future.

Brad Wittler, CPA, has been promoted to Healthcare Director. Brad specializes in healthcare consulting and accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and reimbursement services for healthcare organizations. His disciplined, steady approach helps healthcare clients work through complex financial issues without feeling overwhelmed.
